§ 62-72. Connection with sewerage and water system required; failure to comply; order; continued failure; abatement by city; assessment of costs; execution for assessment; levy and sale.

  • Such board of commissioners is empowered to require and compel landowners, whenever proper for the sanitation of the county, to make connections with said sewers, sewerage systems, drains, water mains and water systems; and, upon failure of any owner of land to comply with any order issued by said board of commissioners for any of the purposes of this section for ten days after receiving a copy of such order, such board of commissioners are [is] hereby authorized to have the necessary work done at the expense of such owner, and, after completion of such work, to assess the owner with the cost thereof, and if such assessment is not paid within ten days after presentation thereof, they shall issue their execution for the cost of such work against the owner of such lands, which shall be levied by the sheriff of the county upon any property of such owner within such county; and said property shall be advertised and sold by virtue of such execution under the same rules and regulations as govern other sheriff's sales.
