§ 22-74. Appointment; term; compensation; expenses.
(a)
The medical examiner of Fulton County shall be appointed by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners. The term of the medical examiner of Fulton County serving as such on December 31, 1997, shall expire on midnight of that date and upon the appointment of a successor. That successor shall be appointed for a term which begins January 1, 1998, and which expires December 31, 2003, and upon the appointment of a successor. That successor, and all future successors to the office of medical examiner whose terms of office are to expire, shall be appointed to such office the first day of January immediately following the expiration of such term and shall serve for a term of six years and until a successor is appointed. A person appointed to such office may be reappointed thereto upon the expiration of that person's term. Vacancies in such office shall be filled for the remainder of the unexpired term by appointment by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.
(b)
The medical examiner of Fulton County shall be compensated in an amount determined by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners. All expenses of the office of such medical examiner shall, subject to Fulton County budgetary limitations, be paid from the general funds of Fulton County.
