§ 82-67. Use of fire hydrants.

  • (a)

    Schedule of charges. No person shall be allowed to use water from any fire hydrant connected to the water system owned by Fulton County, except by special permit from the department of water resources; and in cases where a permit is granted, charges shall be made as follows: the department of water resources shall install a hydrant meter with backflow preventer as prescribed by the department of water resources and the quantity of water used shall be charged to the customer at the prevailing rates in effect in the North Fulton Water District.

    (b)

    Deposits required. A deposit, as established from time to time by the board of commissioners, shall be required with each application for installation of a hydrant meter. Part of the deposit may be credited against the water charge for the hydrant usage when the meter is removed. If the meter is damaged prior to removal by the county, charges against the deposit shall be applied.

    (c)

    Backflow prevention. Proper backflow prevention measures shall be incorporated as provided by the cross connection control program referenced elsewhere in this article.
