§ 166-71. Generally.

  • There is created the Fulton County Aging Services Council, in order to address the needs of aging citizens in Fulton County, and that this body assess, evaluate, plan, fund, and advocate for the welfare of senior citizens of the county. This body shall convene a coalition of state, city, and county officials within the county, as well as other groups and agencies, to establish a mechanism to plan, coordinate, and obtain funding for expanding the delivery of social services to the elderly. This body shall serve as the official body for all aged related matters including, but not limited to, reviewing and responding to senior citizens, complaints, devising and recommending shortterm and longterm county programs, and monitoring and evaluating the administration of aging programs. The council will establish annual goals to be addressed by six task forces. These task forces shall be a health task force, a housing task force, a recreation/enrichment task force, a nutrition task force, a social service task force, and a transportation task force. The composition of this council will be made up of the following entities:
