§ 134-1. Hazardous material advisory council.

  • (a)

    There is established the Hazardous Material Advisory Council of Fulton County which shall be composed of members from the following county agencies:

    (1)

    County manager's office;

    (2)

    Sheriff of Fulton County;

    (3)

    Fulton County Health Department;

    (4)

    Atlanta-Fulton County EMA;

    (5)

    Fulton County Legal Counsel;

    (6)

    Fulton County Fire Department; and

    (7)

    Fulton County Communications.

    (b)

    The Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency shall solicit additional participation for the Hazardous Material Advisory Council of Fulton County by inviting the following organizations to also become members:

    (1)

    Fire department from each of the incorporated cities of Fulton County;

    (2)

    Atlanta Chamber of Commerce;

    (3)

    Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA);

    (4)

    National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA);

    (5)

    Atlanta Bureau of Pollution Control;

    (6)

    American Red Cross;

    (7)

    Business and industry representatives;

    (8)

    Fulton DeKalb Hospital Authority;

    (9)

    Public information group representative (media);

    (10)

    Community group representative; and

    (11)

    Technical experts.

    (c)

    The council shall:

    (1)

    Pursue the development of an awareness program involving industry, the community, local government and the news media; and

    (2)

    Evaluate available resources for preparing for and responding to potential incidents.

    (d)

    The Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency shall be responsible as a consultant to the hazardous material advisory council and shall furnish all administrative support attendant to council activities.
