§ 101-36. Vice-chairman.

  • (a)

    The term of office of the vice-chairman of the board of commissioners is one year.

    (b)

    The board of commissioners shall select a vice-chairman at the first regular meeting held in January, and the vice-chairman selected shall be authorized to preside at meetings of the board of commissioners in the absence of the chairman and fulfill all of the duties of the chairman due to the death or vacancy of the chairman. The board member selected to serve as vice-chairman shall be chosen from the members of the board of commissioners on a rotation based on seniority, from amongst members who have not currently served in that capacity. If two or more board members are of equal seniority and without prior or current service as vice-chairman, the selection shall be made on the basis of the numerical order of the respective districts. No board member shall serve a second year as board vice-chairman, until all members have served at least one year.

    (c)

    The chairman of the board of commissioners or the vice-chairman, in the absence of the chairman, shall have the authority to execute contracts, deeds, and other documents on behalf of Fulton County, where the same have been approved by the board of commissioners.
