§ 26-33. Transfer of employees; effects.

  • Persons who are full-time, permanent employees of all library facilities transferred to the countywide library system shall have the right to enter the employment thereof without any lapse or hiatus in their employment on the terms provided herein. The terms of this section shall apply only to those positions with existing library facilities which are abolished by the dissolution of those facilities. No employee transferred to the countywide library system shall suffer a decrease in salary as a result of being transferred. Every transferred employee shall be assigned by the library board of trustees to a position of employment similar to that occupied by the employee with the former library facility. After being so assigned, all such employees shall be subject to the civil service laws and regulations of Fulton County. For any purpose involving seniority or requiring computation of the period of employment, the former employment with the then existing library facility or the municipal government shall be given the same effect as employment with the county government. Nothing in this section shall affect the power of the library board of trustees of the countywide library system or any other duly authorized officer to dismiss employees for grounds set forth in existing laws and regulations.
