§ 18-44. Method of generating funds required for establishing, maintaining and operating fire prevention system.

  • In the event that the property embraced in any fire district established under this article subject to taxation or assessment shall, if taxed at a rate not less than that proportion of the tax levy of the City of Atlanta which is devoted to fire protection, produce a sum which shall be sufficient to pay at least 50 per centum of the cost of providing fire protection, and in the event that said district shall contain public property, then the Board of Commissioners of Fulton County shall levy and collect a tax or assessment on the property or property owners within such district, without uniformity between districts, at a rate not less than that proportion of the tax levy of the City of Atlanta which is devoted to fire protection, and the balance of the cost of establishing, maintaining and operating such fire protection system shall be paid by Fulton County from general funds.
