§ 10-386. Office created; appointment.

  • In all counties in the State of Georgia having a population of 600,000 or more according to the United States decennial census of 1990 and any future such census, there is hereby created the office of justice of the peace emeritus. Any justice of the peace or notary public ex-officio justice of the peace holding office on January 1, 1967, who has been commissioned for such office for at least four consecutive terms, and who is also a practicing attorney and a member of the State Bar of Georgia, shall be appointed justice of the peace emeritus.
