§ 82-61. Opening streets; protection for water pipes required.

  • (a)

    Generally. Any person who may open the streets or roadways in which there are water pipes, valves or other appurtenances of the system, shall provide for the protection of these pipes where they are exposed by the opening, and the protection shall be such as to preserve the pipes and prevent them from freezing or breaking or from injury in any manner. This section shall apply to all water pipes, mains, laterals, services, connections, or other appurtenances of the water distribution system

    (b)

    Cost of work. If county resources are required to protect water pipes, valves or other appurtenances, the cost or expense to the county for this work shall be charged to and paid by the person who is responsible for the exposure of the system.
